Simon Gaynor has joined the BGRFC coaching team for the rest of the season as he works towards his Master's Degree.
Gaynor joins the team as they top Sussex Two West unbeaten with one game to go before the break and league split.
Gaynor brings a wealth of experience in both coaching as the DoR at Emanuel School Wandsworth and playing experience from Bristol, Esher, Ealing Trailfinders, and Worthing Raiders. Working with Neil Bailey and Joe Serna, Gaynor will focus on tightening up some of the teams’ weaknesses in defence, improving individual skill sets, and promoting the fast brand of rugby Barns Green are known for.
The boys already have a solid foundation built from their preseason work with Serna so Gaynor will come to Barns Green looking to build on that and push the team towards their objectives for the season and ultimately promotion straight back into Sussex One.
Neil Bailey told the club that “having Simon Gaynor join us was an offer we couldn’t refuse as; not only is he a level 3 coach with playing experience at a professional level, it also took some pressure off Joe, allowing him to get back involved with playing after recovering from injury without compromising on the work he had done over the last few months on systems and structure. A real win for the club.”
