Match Preview: On The Road Again For Barns Green As They Face Steyning

Barns Green return to an old local rival in Steyning to further there intentions for this season.

The last time these teams faced of was in a table top clash in Sussex 2 West which Barns Green came out on top with trys from Nick Cooper and Matthew Hoyte. It cemented their 1st place in the table and confirmed their unbeaten run in the league.

Since the game in November both teams have had a very different run of results. For Steyning, they were unable to field a team for the first game against Haywards Heath and lost to Shoreham 29 - 12. They're currently sat at the bottom of the table after Heathfield and Waldron pulled out of the league. Barns Green would be foolish to think this game will be easy despite Steyning's recent results. A team fighting at the bottom can be the toughest and most dangerous opponents. Looking to get their first result of Sussex 2 Premier, they will be keen to show the league they mean business by taking away Barns Greens unbeaten record. They are a gritty team who's pack dig in and make it a real physical contest so it is bound to be a long day for the BG defence.

On the other hand, Barns Green will be full of confidence coming off their win against Shoreham the week before. They showed that they can hold out a strong attack and seeing a game off in a controlled manner. The backs will be hungry for more trys and the defence will be eager to prove to the league they mean business with a shut out performance.

It's bound to be another big game at Steyning and one not to miss. If you have a spare moment on Saturday, get down to the Steyning Leisure Centre for what is going to be a great display of rugby. Kick off is at 2pm and the weather looks to be dry and mild.
