Barns Green head to the coast for an anticipated clash against league leaders Hove 3.
Barns Green started their season off with a big win against Ditchling last week but sights quickly shifted to their next game against league leaders Hove 3s in another must win game.
Buoyed by their win, Barns Green travel to the coast with confidence. Their hard efforts in pre-season were put on display with strong attack and a disciplined defence against Ditchling so they're eager to push on and make it 2 from 2. Taking a largely unchanged squad from last week Barns Green do however see the return of Matt Taylor in the front row and a debut for Joe Parker.
Hove 3s are currently top of the table with an opening day 40 - 26 win against Lewes RFC and last week they received a walk over win after Steyning failed to field a team. However, this week we received the news that Hove 2s had folded so whether that will have an impact on their 3s remains to be seen.
With Hove 3s entering into the league this season it is hard to gain an insight into how tomorrow will unfold. Last season against Hove 2s however, both teams shared the spoils with Barns Green running out winners 26-10 at the Field of Dreams and Hove winning 26-0 a The Rec albeit against a heavily reduced BG side.
What is clear though is the importance of this clash. Hove 3s will look to bolster their title challenge by continuing their 100% record and a win could give them some breathing room as we begin to enter the autumn months. Barns Green will look to continue their charge after their delayed start to the season. A win for the green and gold will push them up the table and put pressure on those around them cementing their place as early title contenders.
