Barns Green Join with Holbrook for Live Training

With the season approaching, Barns Green declined a preseason friendly and opted instead for a joint live training session with Holbrook RFC.

On Wednesday Barns Green joined forces with Holbrook RFC for a pre planned training session before both teams set out for their respective league challenges this season. This was instead of hosting preseason friendlies as we believed it would be more beneficial to run structured game scenarios.

The training session saw coaches from both teams coming together to share insights and knowledge of the game and it allowed for players to help each other with running moves, live scrummaging and situational game scenarios.

This ended with a mini fast paced game where players were able to put into practise what they had been building on during pre-season as well as getting used to the new tackle height in live gameplay.

Barns Green captain James Dickson said "I feel the session with Holbrook was a complete game changer, taking the unknown opposition of a pre season game with the structure of a training session. Both teams got a lot of positives and take outs from the session and definitely something we’re look to do again in the future"

Barns Green coach Keiron Martin was equally impressed with how the session went and how Barns Green performed ahead of their first game against Ditchling on the 28th. It was clear that the hard work during pre-season has paid off both in defence and attack.

With the success of the session for both teams, Barns Green certainly hope this isn't the last time they join with Holbrook and there is already talk of planning the next live training session.
