BARNS GREEN COMPETE AT WOODEN SPOON GOLF TOURNAMENT
JUNE 17th, 2021
Barns Green sent a team of 12 members and players to compete at the annual Wooden Spoon golf charity day at Cottesmore Golf Club.
Barns Green sent a strong 3 team contingent to compete against many other rugby clubs from across the county. Large downpours delayed play for an hour which then only allowed for a 9 hole tournament but the boys were happy to get out on the course non-the-less. the conditions were tough but the teams we put forward scored very well and one of our teams narrowly missed out on progressing to the national tournament.
Before the golfers could sit down for lunch, Bruce McLeod handed over a cheque for £200 which was raised at the last VPs social event. It was gratefully accepted by all those at The Wooden Spoon charity.
After the lunch and auction, the boys headed back to Horsham for dinner and beers to celebrate which felt as close to a normal rugby social as we’ve had for nearly two years! Then men carried on celebrating late into the night with some sore heads in the morning.
Thanks goes to Nick Lewis for organising our participation and to all the members who took part to raise money for a great cause!
